ty (NYU) as part of Harmonic Analysis\, Approximation Theory and related t
opics\n\n\nAbstract\nLarge ensembles of points with Coulomb interactions a
rise in various settings of condensed matter physics\, classical and quant
um mechanics\, statistical mechanics\, random matrices and even approximat
ion theory\, and they give rise to a variety of questions pertaining to an
alysis\, Partial Differential Equations and probability.\n\nWe will first
review these motivations\, then present the ”mean-field” derivation of
effective models and equations describing the system at the macroscopic s
cale. We then explain how to analyze the next order behavior\, giving info
rmation on the configurations at the microscopic level and connecting with
crystallization questions\, and finish with the description of the effect
  of temperature.\n

ginia Naibo (Kansas State University) as part of Harmonic Analysis\, Appro
ximation Theory and related topics\n\n\nAbstract\nFourier multipliers and
pseudo-differential operators are defined by means of the Fourier transfor
m and play an important role in the study of partial differential equation
 s. In the same spirit\, Hermite pseudo-multipliers are associated to Herm
ite expansions and they represent the counterparts to pseudo-differential
operators in the Hermite setting. \nAfter some preliminaries\, we will pre
sent results on boundedness properties of pseudo-multipliers in function s
paces associated to the Hermite operator. The main tools in the proofs inv
olve new molecular decompositions and molecular synthesis estimates for He
rmite Besov and Hermite Triebel-Lizorkin spaces\, which allow to obtain bo
undedness results on spaces for which the smoothness allowed includes non-
positive values. In particular\, we obtain boundedness results for pseudo-
multipliers on Lebesgue and Hermite local Hardy spaces.\nThe talk is based
on joint work with Fu Ken Ly (The University of Sydney).\n

ndedness properties on various function spaces of for example maximal oper
ators and singular integrals among many other operators. There is a parall

a panorama of this dyadic world and how it connects heuristically and now

DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://stable.researchseminars.org/talk/ATHAB
razil/12/">Electrostatic partners and zeros of orthogonal and multi-orthog
onal polynomials</a>\nby Andrei Martinez-Finkelshtein (Baylor University)
as part of Harmonic Analysis\, Approximation Theory and related topics\n\n
\nAbstract\nThe well-known electrostatic interpretation of the zeros of He
rmite\, Laguerre or Jacobi polynomials that goes back to the 1885 work of
Stieltjes is one of the most popular models in the theory of orthogonal po
lynomials. Besides its elegance\, it has a clear pedagogic value\, allowin
g to predict monotonicity properties of zeros in terms of parameters or th
eir asymptotic distribution. It was picked up and extended to several cont
exts\, such as orthogonal and quasi-orthogonal polynomials on the real lin
e and the unit circle\, for classical and semiclassical weights. \n\nMulti
ple orthogonal (or Hermite-Pade) polynomials satisfy a system of orthogona
lity conditions with respect to a set of measures. They find applications
in number theory\, approximation theory\, and stochastic processes\, and t
heir analytic theory\, extremely rich\, has been developing since the 1980
 s. However\, no electrostatic interpretation of the zeros of such polynomi
als has been described in the literature. In this talk\, I will describe s
uch a model for the case of type II Hermite-Pade polynomials\, will discus
s its link with the asymptotic behavior of such zeros\, and will illustrat
e it with some simple cases. \n\nThis is joint work with R. Orive (Univers
 idad de La Laguna\, Canary Islands\, Spain) and J. Sanchez-Lara (Granada U
 niversity\, Spain).\n
