y Jorge Buescu (FCUL\, Lisbon) as part of Colóquio de Matemática - FCUL\
n\nLecture held in Sala 6.2.33.\n\nAbstract\nThe Riemann Hypothesis (RH) i
s arguably the most important unsolved problems in Mathematics\, being one
of the outstanding Millenium Problems. In this talk we provide a bird’s
eye view of RH as Riemann conceived it\, showing its connection to the ex
act formula for distribution of primes\; we describe some classical result
s related to RH derived during its first century of life\; and we sketch s
everal modern approaches which lead to unexpected connections to other bra
nches of Mathematics\, including the ghostly appearance of the critical st
rip in the author’s apparently unconnected research.\n\npassword: coloqu

t-FCUL/2/">Eulerian polynomials via the Weyl algebra action</a>\nby José
Agapito Ruiz (Fac. de Ciências\, Univ. de Lisboa) as part of Colóquio de
Matemática - FCUL\n\nLecture held in Sala 6.2.33.\n\nAbstract\nUsing the
framework of partitions and rook placements\, we study\, in particular\,
the action of the Weyl algebra on the geometric series\, obtaining a gener
alization of the Worpitzky identity and new recursive formulas for a famil
y of polynomials that include the classical Eulerian polynomials.\n\nThis
is joint work with Pasquale Petrullo\, Domenico Senato\, and Maria Manuel
 Torres.\n
