mpland seminar series\n\n\nAbstract\nOn Monday July 13th at 11.00 AM EDT w
e will have an online "Swampland open mic event" via zoom. The idea is to
gather as many interested people as we can in an open\, friendly\, and fun
manner. The discussion will last one hour and everybody is encouraged to
come and bring their own thoughts\, questions\, and ideas on anything Swa
 mpland-related!\n\nHope to see you there!\n

as part of Swampland seminar series\n\n\nAbstract\nOver the last fourteen
years\, a variety of swampland conditions have been proposed with various
degrees of rigor. In this talk\, I will discuss tests of some of these con
jectures that do not rely on specific string theory constructions. They in
clude constraints on symmetry\, strength of gravitational couplings\, cobo
rdism between theories\, and issues with lower dimensional theories.\n

DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://stable.researchseminars.org/talk/Harva
rdSwamp/7/">Comments and speculations on swampland geometry</a>\nby Sergio
Cecotti (SISSA) as part of Swampland seminar series\n\n\nAbstract\nI focu
s on the geometric side of the swampland program.\nThe basic observation i
s that manifolds satisfying the Ooguri-Vafa geometric con- jectures are th
e natural arena for a geometric structure which may be regarded as the non
-K ̈ahler generalization of special (K ̈ahler) geometry. The relevant pr
oper- ties and results of “motivic” special geometry extend with littl
 e modification to the general Ooguri-Vafa situation.\nFor supersymmetric e
ffective theories this generalized geometric structure leads to a nice ref
ormulation of the Ooguri-Vafa swampland conditions and to a clarification
of their physical origin.\nThe extension of the statements to non-supersym
metric quantum-consistent effec- tive theories\, while speculative\, is no
t manifestly wrong (and “qualitatively” right).\n
