\n\nAbstract\nA wide range of nonclassical effects such as wavepacket revi
vals and fractional revivals\,\nand interesting changes in quantum entangl
ement can be observed in several bipartite\nsystems of atoms interacting w
ith the radiation field\, as they evolve in time. The role\nof quantum obs
ervables in the complex dynamics of bipartite quantum systems is also\nwel
l-known. As a quantum system governed by a nonlinear Hamiltonian evolves u
nitarily\,\nthe subsystems interact dissipatively. The naive Ehrenfest con
nection between classical\nmotion and the dynamics of quantum expectation
values has to be appropriately modified\nin this context. An analysis of t
he time series of relevant subsystem observables can bring\nto light inter
esting ergodicity properties ranging from periodic behaviour to exponentia
l\nsensitivity to the initial state of the system under consideration\, an
d the role played by the\nparameters in the Hamiltonian in determining the
details of the dynamics. I will illustrate\nthe foregoing using simple an

i as part of Quantum Optics and Related Topics 2025\n\n\nAbstract\nA theor
etical analysis of a double-slit experiment involving entangled photons is
presented. It is demonstrated that\, under appropriate conditions\, two e
ntangled photons with a wavelength of λ can function as a biphoton with a
wavelength of λ/2. More intriguingly\, we illustrate that even when the
two entangled photons are separated by a polarizing beam splitter\, they c
an still exhibit behavior akin to a biphoton of wavelength λ/2. On the ex
perimental front\, we explore two distinct quantum interference phenomena
using a double-slit setup: the Hanbury Brown and Twiss (HBT) effect\, wher
e the photons traverse different slits\, and NOON-state interference\, in
which both photons pass through the same slit. We methodically differentia
te the two photons based on their orthogonal polarizations and show that b
oth interference phenomena persist despite their distinguishability at the
detectors. This result goes beyond the conventional understanding of two-
photon interference and reveals a new nonlocal HBT effect\, where interfer
ence occurs even in the absence of spatial overlap\, fundamentally tied to
  the concept of entanglement.\n

/a>\nby R. Vathsan as part of Quantum Optics and Related Topics 2025\n\n\n
Abstract\nSystems adopted as platforms for quantum computing typically un
dergo deviations from ideal dynamics due to unavoidable interactions with
the environment. The hallmark of computational power is the entanglement i
n the system\, which could suffer due to noise. Typically\, gate performan
ce is analysed and noise characterised by Quantum Process Tomography and B
ell state tomography. However these methods are resource intensive\, and s
cale exponentially with system size. In this work\, we propose leveraging
the geometric phase(GP) as a tool for performance assessment and noise ide
ntification in the Molmer-Sorensen (MS) gate\, a commonly used entangling
gate in trapped ion systems. Our findings indicate that the GP is particul
arly sensitive to environmental noise occurring around twice the clock pul
se time. Given that GP measurements do not require full-state tomography\,
this approach offers a practical and experimentally feasible method to de
tect entanglement and classify the nature of noise affecting the system.\n

the interplay of linear and nonlinear effects\ngives rise to solitons\, i
 .e.\, self-trapped localized structures\, in a wide range of physical\nset
 tings\, including optics\, Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs)\, hydrodynamic

sidered as an\ninterdisciplinary class of modes\, which feature diverse in
ternal structures.\n\nWhile most experimental realizations and theoretical
models of solitons\nhave been elaborated in one-dimensional (1D) settings
\, a challenging issue is\nprediction of stable solitons in 2D and 3D med
ia. In particular\, multidimensional\nsolitons may carry an intrinsic topo
logical structure in the form of vorticity. In\naddition to the "simple" v
ortex solitons\, fascinating objects featuring complex\nstructures\, such
as hopfions\, i.e.\, vortex rings with internal twist\, have been predicte

. V. Biguaa as part of Quantum Optics and Related Topics 2025\n\n\nAbstrac
t\nTunable linear-optical interferometers are a key element of both classi
cal and quantum information systems. During the manufacturing process\, th
ese interferometers are subject to various instrumental imperfections that
are inevitably\nintroduced. In this way actual chip's transfer matrix can
deviate form the expected one. It is therefore crucial to be able to reco
nstruct the transfer matrix of a fabricated chip for each set of control s
ignals applied to chip’s optical modulators. Existing methods for recons
tructing tunable linear-optical interferometers require measuring the phas
e of chip’s transfer matrix elements at different values of control sign
als. This is a complex and time-consuming experimental procedure. However\
, in the method we propose here\, it’s possible to construct a mathemati
cal model that predicts the transfer matrix for a tunable linear-optical c
hip at any values of the control signals\, based on measurements of the tr
ansmission coefficients of the chip only. Our method was successfully veri
fied numerically on the example of linear-optical chips 4x4 based on the u
niversal Clements and mixing layers architectures. In the case of a chip 4
x4 based on the mixing layers\, the method was experimentally tested with
an average reconstruction fidelity of 96.78%.\n

y C. Lee as part of Quantum Optics and Related Topics 2025\n\n\nAbstract\n
Quantum sensors based on frequentist interferometry face a trade-off betwe
en sensitivity and dynamic range. Bayesian quantum estimation\, combining
Bayesian statistics with quantum metrology\, can surpass the limit of conv
entional frequentist measurements. For cold-atom CPT clocks\, our adaptive
Bayesian protocol achieves Heisenberg-limited sensitivity in integration
time and improves fractional frequency stability by 5.1(4) dB over convent
ional PID locking while enhancing robustness against technical noise [Phys
 . Rev. Applied 22\, 044058 (2024)]. In CPT magnetometry\, we optimize meas
urement sequences to improve precision scaling from T-0.5 to T-0.85. Using
Bayesian quantum estimation to optimize the interferometry sequence\, we
yield a 145.6 nT dynamic range (14.6 dB higher than frequentist counterpar
 t of 5.0 nT) with a sensitivity of 6.8 ± 0.1 pT/Hz¹/² (3.3 dB improveme
nt over the frequentist counterpart of 14.7 ± 0.4 pT/Hz¹/²) [Science Ad
vances 11\, eadt3938 (2025)]. In addition to atomic clocks and magnetomete
rs\, this framework may bridge high sensitivity and broad dynamic range fo
 r other interferometry-based quantum sensors.\n

with structuring achieved by incorporating Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) modes i

Abstract\nIn recent years\, technologies exploiting quantum optical effect
s have advanced rapidly\, highlighting the need for accurate simulation of
quantum state evolution across diverse processes. Yet\, numerical simulat
ion of quantum dynamics remains difficult due to the rapid growth of Hilbe
rt space. Traditional Fock-basis methods become impractical in high-photon
  or multimode regimes\, while continuous-variable (CV) representations\, b
ased on discretized position or momentum bases\, still require scalable en
coding strategies.\n\nWe address this challenge using tensor networks\, sp
ecifically the Matrix Product State (MPS) formalism for representing both
wave functions and operators in a continuous basis. This approach leverage
s the fact that MPS encodings are compact for smooth multivariable functio
ns\, enabling efficient propagation of the time-dependent wave function by
solving the Schrödinger equation directly in MPS form.\n\nAs a benchmark
\, we simulate degenerate spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC). F
 or a pump initialized in a low-amplitude coherent state (\\alpha = 10)\, M
PS calculations exactly reproduce Fock-basis results. At higher amplitude
(\\alpha = 100)\, where Fock simulations become intractable\, the MPS meth
od remains efficient and stable.\n\nThese results demonstrate that tensor-
network techniques enable super-resolution of quantum states and provide a
scalable route to simulating multimode optical dynamics\, including whisp
 ering-gallery-mode microresonators.\n
